Edge inference needs clear runtime boundaries
Edge inference can reduce round-trip latency and keep application control closer to the user. It does not remove the need to describe where model execution happens or which data leaves the request boundary.
For agent systems, those runtime details are part of the capability contract. A useful machine-readable surface should expose them instead of hiding them behind a generic completion endpoint.

Latency alone is not enough to evaluate an edge runtime; operators should also compare model availability, data residency, and observability.
